When I started building my first guess was the project would take 1,200-1,400 hours to complete to flying stage. So far that estimate seems reasonable to slightly optimistic. Interestingly (to me anyway) the project hasn't seemed to drag on yet. Progress seems very steady and predictable. Things predictably take 30 to 50 percent longer to complete and predictably cost a little more than you expect (you'll "need" or want another tool, mess up a part, or want to add lights or some extra).
